These are joyous times for the Los Angeles Dodgers and their fans as they have advanced to the 2017 World Series after defeating the Chicago Cubs 4-1 in the NLCS. The Dodgers offense was on fire the entire night, scoring 11 runs while the Cubs were able to only bring in one.

Enrique “Kike” Hernandez was the clear star in the deciding game as he was able to homer three times, including a grand slam that all but sealed Los Angeles’ victory. According to MLB, Hernandez himself was speechless about the performance:

I don’t even have words right now. It’s awesome. I’ve never hit three homers in my life in one game, so to do it on a stage like this is amazing. For everything that’s going on back home, to be able to give people of Puerto Rico a little bit to cheer about is awesome and means the world to me. It’s hard being here when your mind and heart is over there. But we’ve got a job to do and four more games to win.”

Hernandez’s grand slam put the Dodgers up 7-0 and it was clear from that point that they were going to advance, leaving those at Wrigley Field stunned. Los Angeles was one of the preseason favorites to make the World Series and they finally proved they were capable of doing so.

While the Dodgers will have some time to celebrate, there is still some drama left as to who they will face in the final series of the year. The Houston Astros and New York Yankees are still dueling in the ALCS and it will be interesting to see who ends up becoming the Dodgers’ World Series opponent.
