The 2017-2018 NBA season is finally in the books and now teams like the Los Angeles Lakers can look forward to what is surely going to be one of the franchise’s most important summers to date. The Lakers, despite being young and inexperienced, finished the season with a 35-47 record, which is impressive considering the aforementioned factors coupled with several injuries to the team’s key rotational players.
Kyle Kuzma, who has established himself as a cornerstone piece for Los Angeles, had one of the best statistical rookie seasons for the purple and gold due to his ability to score at moment’s notice. Kuzma’s play caught the eye of players throughout the season which in turn could be a selling point for potential free agents.
According to Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints, Kuzma discussed the possibility of high-profile players joining the Lakers:
Kyle Kuzma on potential incoming big-name free agents: "If guys want to come here, they come…we're not depending on that." #Lakers

The Utah product has not been shy about letting the media know about his confidence in himself as a player and this is just another example of that. Players like Paul George and LeBron James have been linked to the purple and gold all year due to the front office vocalizing their desire to clear cap space in an effort to lure stars to the City of Angels.
However, even if the Lakers strike out once again on free agents, the team’s outlook is no longer bleak given they now employ players like Kuzma, Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram. While the front office and fans are hoping for stars to arrive and carry Los Angeles back to the playoffs, the Lakers have an exciting young core that is more than enjoyable to watch on a nightly basis.
