The Los Angeles Lakers made a statement with their 127-113 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Needless to say, even star forward LeBron James was impressed by the Lakers’ outing.
While there were a number of players that put on stellar performances, James gave credit to the man in charge. According to Dan Duangdao of ClutchPoints, he praised head coach Luke Walton for the job he has done since taking over:
“Since Luke [Walton] took over, they’ve improved every single season I think, and you just try to implement that ball movement, that body movement, that he got when he was in Golden State.”
James’ praise speaks volumes to the work Walton has done in helping to improve this team. It goes without saying that the three-time champ is one of the most intelligent players in the NBA. To say that the Lakers are starting to become reminiscent of a team like the Golden State Warriors means the change has become extremely noticeable.
Walton’s tenure as head coach got off to a slow start in Los Angeles. However, this young Lakers team has started to turn the corner after already surpassing their win total from last season by 4 games with a month left in the regular season. That said, the Lakers gave James a firsthand look at the significant improvement they have made as the front office prepares to make its pitch to “Th King” this offseason.
