The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a bit of a roll as of late as they currently are on a three-game winning streak. In their most recent victory against the Phoenix Suns, the Lakers managed to overcome a lackadaisical first half and pulled off a 112-93 blowout victory.
With the NBA trade deadline nearly upon us, teams have begun ramping up its efforts to get deals done to either stockpile future assets or gear up for playoff runs. Los Angeles may be a seller at the deadline given they have several decisions to make regarding players like Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle despite the latest report they are looking more toward 2019 free agency.
However, according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, the purple and gold may be eyeing more young players to add to its roster:
For what it’s worth, seems the Phoenix Suns are looking at deals involving Marquese Chriss. Several teams seem to be involved, with the Lakers being considered the Favorites.

Chriss is an interesting target for the Lakers as he has underwhelmed in his first two seasons with the Suns. The big man is fighting for minutes with Phoenix’s glut of frontcourt players, which makes him a possible buy-low candidate for Los Angeles.
If the team is indeed set on letting someone like Randle go either in a trade or free agency, then targeting another young player like Chriss makes sense. It will be interesting to see if there is any real interest on the Lakers’ end to get a deal done.
